All I can say is that it's quite an acheivement to be able to survive this week's trainings. =p
The first 2 days were quite slack; apart from the PT we had with our DRC (Deputy Rota Commander) on Monday. We did all sorts of exercises - push ups, sit ups, pull ups and any types of peculiar stuffs we haven't heard of (e.g. lizard push ups). The PT lesson didn't justend like this. We carried on playing 'games' like 'dog and bone', 'group number calling' and lastly the killer of all - 'snake and ladder' (whereby we had to compete with one another to run up the levels across the stretch of corridors on each level and down again in the same fashion. The bad thing was we did it twice!) Tuesday we had whole day of lectures plus PT, which was just endurance run conducted by our PTI, so it wasn't as bad as Monday's. =x
Then come Wednesday, which was the day everyone was getting all excited but at the same time anxious about the training. We had our first ever flashover training. We had to squat and walk into a container filled with plywoods, newspapers and petroleum on fire accompanied with thick grey-black smoke rushing out from any openings available to it. You can wonder how hot can it be inside. I can tell you it's hellishly hot!! (Mind you that the fire wasn't controlled by any controllers.) I almost got burnt when I got inside for the 2nd time, cause the water, which was absorbed by my gloves, got evaporated instantaneously and nearly scalded my left hand! But the whole experience was quite enjoyable and fufilling; at least I've been into a flashover and I was that close to a mega fire! =p After all trainings had ceased for the day, we played with water. lolx Worst still, we sprayed at our DRC and Sgt. We even 'tau pok' our Sgt.! =x
Thursday was the worst day of the week. I call it the Armegaddon. We had swimming lesson in the morning, which made us caught a runny nose afterthat. This was bad as we were having our BAPT (Breathing Apparatus Proficiency Test) after lunch. Anyhow, during the test, I was close already feeling dehydrated at my first station (there's a total of 1+5 stations namely donning of BA set, enless ladder, walking on treadmill, pulling weights, cycling and BA maze.). But I endured throughout the test and I was quite satisfied that I got A for all stations! woot!=) But I was that close to dying when I took out everything on my body.=x
Thursday didn't end just yet...We were told that there would be dorm inspection straight after the test. We all expected that tsunami would occur by hook or by crook. But little did we expect that it could be so bad. In fact, we were flabbergasted. It's THE worst tsunami we ever witnessed. Detergents, washing powder etc poured onto the floor, beds went haywire, footwear all over the floor... ... ... ...A 2nd impact struck us as we underwent changing parade. Changed from No. 4 to PT kit; then to Bunker Gear (No. 4 with full fireman suit). Then we were told to do 'snake and ladder'!! Looks like 'tired' wasn't in his dictionary. Lastly, he took back all our nights-off; this means that our plan to eat at pizza hut was to no avail. All all the tekan session, we went to clean up our dorm after our dinner. It was so destructive that we took almost 3 hours cleaning up!
And you think that these series of unfortunate events just end here? You're totally wrong! One of our coursemate played 'missing' with us when we were conducting our water parade. Enicks and us took about 2 hours to search high and low for him; from toilets, to training areas to furnance... ...but didn't see a soul. As the last resort, Encik called our CA (course administrator), DRC and Captain down to take control of this heart-throbbing incident. But we eventually found him walking down one of the stairs. Luckily nothing was said by our Captain. We were all safe and sound at the end of the day...took a bath at 23 30 and slept at 00 00. Scary isn't it?! o.O
Friday was a day for us to chill down. We just did some dry runs for our up-coming Inter-Residential Skills Competition, which is commencing next Friday. After lunch we slack and took a nap; waiting for our dinner. Afterthat was awaiting for our departure to Istana for our BOCA Exercise (sounds like 'Vodka' isn't it? lol). Everything went terrible for us as the weather was bad; it started to rain once we were standing-by in our positions. And it just rained continously! Poor us had to suffer under the wrath of the bad weather and endure until a rescuer comes to our 'rescue' us from the chill. lolx Everything ended around 04 00.(No luck to meet the President there though =p) Just came back home around 07 30. Sigh...what a tiring day...
But fret not as next week would be quite a chilling down week for us as we do not have much trainings apart from our ISA (Individual Skills Assessment) on Monday.
