best locker room

Woot! Rota 2 got the title of best locker room! The prize - 5 x $20 NTUC vouchers, courtesy from OC. Half of it will be used for buying basic necessities for the coming old folk's home visit and the other half will be in our rota fund.

Yesterday our NSFs nemesis treated all the chinese colleagues (including NSFs) to a meal of KFC cause he just struck 4D. lolx That's nice of him, but then again he'll still be his old self. No doubt about it.

Today went for that mandatory career fair for the soon-to-be-ORD-ing NSFs. Luckily adil went to pick us (dino and azami) with his borrowed car, if not I wouldn't even know how to go there on my own! xD I don't know why I was chosen when there's still one more ORD-ing NSF who have yet to go. Anyway, I feel this career fair was rather limited as there was about 10-20 organisations and companies setting up their stalls to do pitching. Also, most of them who participated cater more to those with average or lower education qualifications.

One of the participating companies, which I shall not disclose, did something rude and, in their own way, pragmatic. I was with the other 2 fellow HomeTeam NSFs - one with a diploma, the other with 2 'o's. The pitcher just told us that we need at least 4 'o's and said that we could always find them when we've got at least 4 'o's. Afterwhich, he just concentrated on the diploma guy and me without even engaging with the other guy. I bet the pitcher didn't even realise that he left while we were talking half way. What a REAL WORLD.

Anyway, I felt that the career fair could be done much better. Even the other NSFs thought so too. Non-centralised location, mandatory attendance, not enough seats, food was the same usual stuffs, limited organisations, similar job opportunities from the various participating organisations...I give it 3/10.

Thanks to adil again for sending me back home as well. Terimah kesih.

*I must start thinking of reasons to reject all the offers I'll receive from the various organisations I've reluctantly put my particulars on it by next week! =x

a secret in itself

This afternoon was rather busy. Had to visit my late grandpa and uncle at 光明山 with my grandma, dad, 2nd uncle and aunt. Later went to sent my aunt back and we paid her house a visit (together with grandma). Afterwhich, I went home and took a 10-minute shower then my dad sent me to tuition before sending my grandma back as I was running late for tuition (which was changed rather last-minute).

Was suppose to meet quek (couldn't make it in the end), les and low for a movie at amk hub at 19 45. Luckily my dad took the initiative to fetch me back (or rather sent me to amk hub in this case lolx), if not I would be late for the show.

Watched 不能说的.秘密(I like the usage of the dotted duration in the title as it amplifies the mystery of the secret) with les and low. This romance movie is the first movie by the amateur director 周杰倫. The plot, although abit of a recurrence, it was unique in its own way nonetheless. Jay's favourite musician must be chopin, if not he wouldn't put it in one of his albums and made the movie to be revolving around chopin (even the piano scores). However, by using this time-travelling technique in movie writting is at a disadvantage as you'll surely be put in a difficult situation whereby loopholes will start to surface close to the ending part.

For this case, judging from the photo taken at the 1979 graduation day, it seems like everyone could see him (jay's character) when he returned back to the past. (the rule was only the first person whom was seen by the person who got cursed by the 'secret' piano score will be able to see that person....what a mouthful xD) This in turn made lots of plausible theory for the post-ending, which made it seems like a chaos theory.

Other than the lovey-dovey storyline, he included afew special cinematographic effect of 3D imageries. The humour used was rather good. The acting could be better, but that's him. The ending wasn't persuasive enough and rather vague in facial expression (when he returned back to the past meeting her in the classroom). Maybe this would make more people want to re-view this flick a couple of times more. I rate it 7.5/10.

*N.B.:It's funny when dad referred my 2nd sis's bf as '老公'! xD

Singapore fireworks festival 2007

Yong xiang, zheng yu, john, les and me went for a long-awaited outing last Saturday. On the way met julian at NS line, who was also watching 881 but at suntec; and later going to watch the fireworks as well. How coincidental~ xD

We went to the box office at marina square but it was flooded with people and the tickets were selling fast, so we gave the movie a miss. We walked around marina square and suntec before having dinner.

We had roughly about 2 hours before the start of the fireworks. We only started to look out for an ideal place to station ourselves for a nice and comfortable view about 1 hour later. lolx In the end, we were left with esplanade.

The fireworks was nice, especially the one which could move haphazardly after the blast and the different colours produced.

Today was the first day of me giving tuition. Time seemed to pass quite fast. =p

China?! No Thanks!

China had too much bad images on herself (and sad to say, ironically, by herself). So much that we could see their 'bad news' almost everyday. From overly toxic food and toy products to poor planning to become the host for the upcoming Olympics. If you didn't get diarrhea or get cheated in China, you've probably didn't travel much. Perhaps the government agencies should really make a revolution out of this. However, I think that should wait until the political vendetta between Taiwan and her is over. Let's wait until the cows come home.

Next Monday will be the start of my first tuition. Shall get my bike by this Friday/Saturday.

60 duties left; half a year to go!

songs from the 90's

Yesterday's 校园 superstar performances were songs from the 3 judges. It has been a long time since I heard those old songs. The tunes definitely brought back those memories when we were still in primary school. However, I didn't take note of the song title. It's still nice to listen to some of the songs from 陈洁仪, 蔡健雅, 熊天平, 许美静, 叶良俊, 优客李林, 张信哲 etc...

localised weddings

Yet another wedding I need to attend today. Was suppose to reach there by 2pm but I woke up at 2pm!! lolx But I was still in time. This time it's Md. Noor's wedding. Bukit Batok West was like damn far! lol There were, in fact, 2 weddings held at the same place. I was trying to find another familiar faces among the 2 weddings.

Tomorrow will be my last rostered leave for this year!

happy 42nd national day!!

Our station's OC, in my opinion, is one of the best OC I'd came across. He really thinks about his own men. Punishments given were acceptable. And yesterday, he even asked whether those who went for the recent Jalan Bukit Merah fire had any physical/emotional stress.

Yesterday noon I was woken up abruptly by the ringing of my mobile. PHYSICAL MOBILISATION!!! Why does it have to be on my off duty?!! And unlike the SAF, we SCDF personnels had to rush down within 30 minutes. No, your eyes were not tricked; it's a short 1/2 hour madrush to our station.

After signing in and waiting for another 30 minutes, we were told to leave. They said we could claim taxi fare if we took a taxi down. If only we were told before hand!!

Today was Singapore's 42nd years of independece. The concept of the parade and performances were fresh and unique compared to the previous years. The inclusion of water element, different musical instruments from each race, water-related performances, night parachuting and even a mini-fireworks on the acme of our skyscrapers. But I find that the 2 national songs could be made better but it was good nonetheless. I still prefer the good-old kindergarten and primary school day's national songs; with various languages and meaningful lyrics.

Students will be enjoying their holiday tomorrow while I work... ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE! =)

understand what you are dealing with

Getting kind of bored nowadays...(since wenshu wasn't free this week to accompany me to buy some new games =p and people getting involved for NDP...and less than motivated in going for work...) so I've been searching for CHEMICAL AGENTS!

Nononono.....I'm not a terrorist-wannabe. I just got bored and wanted to understand more about what I might be about to deal with, (hopefully that day will never come =x) so that I could better prepare myself for the better.......or for the worse.=x

Recently, one of my colleague told me more about his personal history - about his past guilt of getting an abortion for his ex-girlfriend. And, to my surprise, there was another person who did the same thing. Promiscuity had got the best of them.

In my own opinion, pre-marital sex or marital infidelity is a big NO-NO. It'll be a burden to the child; confusion turns to anger and then to self-hate - (from both side of the families). And in most situation, the 'parents' would always think in their own positions and decide to go for the abortion without thinking about the life at stake. Divorce might be another of their 'solution'. Sometimes both make a perfect score.

And even if the child was lucky to be conceived, the hierarchy of the family will be in chaos.

So where did the problem lie? - to the parents, to the media or to the western culture of being an open-minded society? I blame it on the individuals. And it's kind of sad to see so many thoughtless individuals being proliferated in recent times.

Perhaps MOE can show all students, both males and females, in secondary schools and ITE the show - 'Silent Screams'. I thought they would show us for my generation, but they didn't.

Early education is the key.

a week's activities

Went for bike recce at hougang area with les on Monday. Motachie and wheeler were more to my liking, but cost wise still have to consider. Afterwhich, had dinner at pizzahut (amk branch) with low, quek and marcus. It's been a long time since we saw quek and marcus. It was amusing to see us sitting the same seats we used to sit 2 years ago. The cheese fondue wasn't that bad. Thought it'd be disgustingly cheesy.

Just had dinner with jon and ken at ti amo; followed by wei xiang and chang sheng. Long time no see wei xiang also. Quite lucky to meet him also as I might be taking over his tuition since he quitted. Hopefully it's a deal! lol Went to N&B but that meng tak was happily playing dota! xD Good job! hahaha

Tomorrow will be the time of the month!

Saturday duty! =D
