wheeeeeeeeee....

Today's activities deviate from any other normal days. I accompanied my da jie for her 3D2N chalet at costa sand resort at sentosa. The room was super duper uber small, which has a floor area the same as 3 single beds. What's in that room was just 2 double-decker beds with wooden lockers at the end of each beds and complementing the beds is an air-conditioner. lolx

We had lunch first at food republic at vivo, where they charge the patrons like they were ordering for a quantity for 2! But anyway, today was a day to just spend our hard-earned money. After the lunch, which ended at about 15 00 ('cause we got there rather late xD), they bought some other miscellaneous stuffs for their stint in the chalet before we bought out tickets for the monorail.

After dismounting all our stuffs in the room, we headed to siloso beach for a game of mahjong. Fortunately it was only having a light drizzle at the time. When it was time for dinner, we went to kou fu, and true enough, it's comparable to that of food republic as well.

The finally activity before I left for home was paying for the skyride and luge. As what they had advertised - '....twice the fun", riding at night gives us another kind of experience and definitely more adrenaline flush as you can't really see what's below and around you. However, there wasn't 'twice the ride', at least for my sis and me. xD

Home sweet home; dreading to go for duty tomorrow. Busy, busy, busy tomorrow!

ARDEX

Yesterday was the most exhausting duty as my section - ssg woon, cpl jason, pte sharil, pte abdullah and myself went for the Asean Regional Disaster EXercise. We had to report at station to take over from the previous rota before 07 00 and reach MTV (Mandai Training Village) by 08 00.

The thought of carrying casualties seems daunting, even so when you see a stretch of endless casualties getting into the exercise area and position themselves. Fortunately, we just need to be positioned at the FAP (first-aid point) and need not be within the risk area itself.

We started to carry casualties from 09 00 till 17 00 before we stand down. There were hundreds of them; and most of them were even recycled!

What I hate most about drills was the acting part. I didn't like to act all that enthusiastic; being the oh-so-great section commander where his men respects him and will do whatever they're told, and getting hyped-up by the arrival of a casualty at the first-aid point when the higher authorities is lurking and spying on us, waiting for the right opportunity to pounce on us. All these summarises into act busy and you're okay.

The whole thing was like a ventriloquists-and-their-dummies show. And at the end of the show, the former gets the credit.

late ord-ers outing

What happened to those people who are ORD-ing in a couple of months?! Today we had a outing just for the NSFs who ORD the later than the rest of the 04S3A guys; except for zhen cong. =p

Zhen cong, zheng yu, les and I went to ktv at serangoon gardens from 14 00 to 18 00; just the four of us at a price of $10 per person. Not bad; at least cheaper than the over-profiteering KBox! xD

After all that singing (and zao xia-ing xD) zheng yu went off for dinner while the rest of us went to chomp chomp for dinner. We ordered carrot cake, chicken wings, BBQ stingray and satay for a price of $9 per person. Was rather filling.

Tomorrow Sunday duty; no CSM, no OC, no CO!

no head no tail

Last duty was very rare for me to forgo my Leave 5 and report back to station at 10 00 so that the KIV people could go back.

Another rare thing was that I was told to be able to go home at 07 00 this morning as I need to return back to station for an exercise (ARDEX - Asean Regional Disaster EXercise) briefing at MTV at 15 00.

And god knows whether is it necessary for me to take HRCT or not!

Can't wait for my next leave to come! 17/11/07.

SELAMAT HARI RAYA PUASA
TO ALL FELLOW MUSLIM FRIENDS~ =)

HAPPY 1ST ANNIVERSARY
IN ALEXANDRA FIRE STATION
TO MYSELF =P

Today was a great day as we didn't have any drills this morning, all thanks to hari raya puasa! =) Looking forward to the coming public holiday; that's deepavali!

Yesterday had zero calls at fire post. What a peaceful day. Just now went out for dinner at my 2nd uncle's stall with jin jie, lim and low. Competition doesn't involve only the big corporations and companies but also those shops in the heartlands. xD

* 40 duties left

another round of movie marathon

This time round, I had watched 4 movies in a day. (4 and a half actually as I had only watched half of The Bourne Ultimatum then it was my turn to turn in =p)

Starting with disturbia. It's a cheap thriller and suspense movie. Plot progression was rather smooth, too smooth to be true actually. Whatever the audiences think, it happens. It's one of those movie where you'll just hate stupidity in some of the characters and wish they were better of dead earlier. 6.5/10.

Up next, after my afternoon nap, was stormbreaker. No wonder their accent sounds different as it was a British film. It was another spy-kid show, just that the kid had grown up to become a 14 year-old teenager. The action was also levelled up. With moves parallel to jackie chan's movie together with a plot of saving the country from a concoction of lethal biological virus by a felon using advanced, high-tech gadgets. 7/10.

1408 was the movie which I was watching after my dinner. A horror movie about a ghost-seeking writer wanting to go around haunted places to get real-life experience in order to jot it down in his book. 1408 was the real haunted hotel room and only when he was 10 minutes inside the room alone did he found out that ghost really exist. However, the whole haunting experience was a abit too mundane and lack of crescendo. What he experience then made him cherish what he didn't. The ending came to the audience mind before it was screened. 5.5/10.

When it was my turn to do sentry, I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry was the movie which made me stay awake from 00 00 to 02 00. Humour was filled throughout the movie like how molecules fill themselves in a solid. However, after so many fire-fighting flicks, the fire-fighters still didn't portray the professional way of fire-fighting. The director also deliberately include in characters of contrasting attitudes and personalities pertaining to homosexualism. And his final verdict seems to be a neutral stand. Like the chinese saying (in direct translation) - "well water do not interfere with river water"; with a peaceful understanding of each other makes a peaceful world. In the end, they still got back their heterosexualities. 8.5/10.

The bourne ultimatum wasn't that enthusiastic about it as I didn't even watch the first 2 sequels. I watched it to pass time and keep myself awake until 02 30 when my shift ends. lolx Didn't understand much about it.

what a lucky guy

Yestersday morning (and don't think that morning starts from 6am....=p) at around 04 45, a drunk man jumped off the sentosa gateway bridge for whatever reason, leaving his girlfriend behind. After about an hour of searching, he was found at the singapore cruise centre!!!!!....Alive but sub-conscious. Most water-rescue calls would mean that we would be retrieving a body back. It's probably my first water-rescue call that made him such a lucky guy. xD

That call made me have a sleepless night starting from 02 00 onwards. =(

Tomorrow is Saturday duty! No visitors please! lolx

wait no more

No more waiting. No more time wasted. Finally bought a bike - HASA comp. 3.0. Travelling has been much faster. Still, public transport is still an option for long distance travelling. =(

I was suppose to meet up with wen shu, gary, jon and ken for movie at amk hub last Saturday but was at my grandma's house. Anyway, I was still able to meet up for dinner with meng tak, jon and ken at pepper lunch. Think that'll be the last time I'd go there for a meal. The quantity was not very much but it's rather expensive. Most probably used to cover the cost of using the hot plate.

To my surprise, I need to cover LF122 yesterday for HRI Drill this morning 'cause SSG Woon need to leave early this morning. The drill was conducted by STN 11 and is at conrad centennial singapore hotel - level 20 - 24. The fire floor was at 22nd and my section went to the 23rd floor to do rescue and evacuation. Afterwhich, we took over the fire-fighting section at room 2221 forr damping down. The room was spacious enough for a single person. Queen size bed, a 19" - 20" plasma tv, toilet with both bath tub and shower cubicle and a nice view out of the window. This would be the first and the last time that I can get into a hotel room without paying a single cent.

Tomorrow morning will be giving tuition again. Wish my tutee all the best in his end-of-year exams starting this week~
