Since last week was quite slack for my Rota, we've expected this week to be xiong.
As usual, we had our BTM trainings almost everyday. But we've somehow been adapted to it already.
Had our Term 1 SOC Test on Tuesday. Fortunately, I passed it with the timing of 9:01. (Back to our Term 1 IPPT last week, I only manage to get a passing grade... sit-up: 43; pull-ups: 9; SBJ: 220; shuttle run: 10.5; 2.4km run: 9:36.) Quite satisfied with my results as we've been through all those physically-draining BTM trainings in the morning and did the test all that. Luckily I got ready 2 plasters for my previously broken blisters during my last SOC training, if not I would not want to foresee what will happen if I didn't cause my plasters is in a "un-useable" state after I did my monkey bar!
Wednesday was our so-called 'day's-off' as we had a whole-day lecture on HazMat (Hazardous Material) operating procedures and equipments.
Thursday we had our sliding pole practice. But this time is abit different from the usual. We had our practice at the Chemical Plant, which is 4 storeys high. We did the 'hugging' and 'Singapore' method at each storey twice; 12 slides in total. I can say that I've finally overcame my phobia of sliding down the pole at great heights. The aftermath of sliding too much is having abrasions on my inner thighs! lolx
Finally comes down to Friday... ...Rota 2 Judgement Day. We had our Heat and Humidity training in the morning. It's a 4-man operation where we had to run 700m with a stretcher loaded with four 64mmx20m hoses; run up the 9-storey high Furnace building doing 10 counts of 8 jumping jacks, 10 push-ups and 10 power legs; run down the 9 storeys; lay and pack up the 64mmx20m hose twice using the dutch roll method and lastly is into the SAUNA ROOM where we did things like reciting our name and I/C no., 10 counts of 8 jumping jacks, tie a reef knot, 10 push-ups, tie single sheet bend knot, another 10 push-ups, holding 2 fully-filled jerry cans for 1 min, arraning the jerry cans according to what was instructed to us! It's literally LIVING HELL! Imaging doing all these things while the temperature is increasing bit by bit. PS:All these trainings were done while wearing our fire jacket and lagging together with our BA set!
We thought our trainings had came to an end and getting psyched up to book out. We were wrong!! We were asked for to participate in a in-promptu ship firefighting exercise for the officers. And I was one of the 12
And guess what!? We had only 10 minutes to change and fall in to book out! Maybe that's why they call us Emergency Response Specialists! lolx
"If you can survive today, you can survive any other day."
Funny things I've came across for the pass few weeks:
"You have the responsible to be the responsibility"
"Slow runners ahead"(or was it "Slow. Runners ahead.?" lolx)
"Don't worry! I confident you!"
