Happy 30th anniversary

Today(28/4/07) was NYJC's 30th anniversary. Went back this afternoon (without my noon-napping... lolx) with wy, jon and ken to check it out~

There were 2 galleries built - Heritage Gallery @ slope next to G.O. and Art Gallery @ the hall gallery. There were also a few erected shelves to place all the past year's acheivements. The campus has changed since the last time I went back...considering I went back quite often. lol

There was a carnival going on but wasn't that facinated about it. Watched the performanced brought to us by the asthetics CCAs then we walked around the campus.

Finally we were called up to the hall for some light refreshments (while standing....) while some speeches were made. We were even given a goodie bag with a CD-ROM inclusive of pictures and videos together with a compiled autograph book written by the alumni. There were buffet at the canteen, a few (free) stalls and more buffet in the hall. All these must have cost a bomb!

Got a chance to meet up with Ms Chiew, Mrs Lim, Ms Avril Tay and Mrs Wong. Especially Ms Tay, whom we'd (04S3A ppl) lost touch with her after J1.

Will surely anticipate for her 40th birthday!~ haha

Anyway, here's wishing NYJC a vibrant, exciting and fufilling years ahead. Let us create greater success every year for TOGETHER WE BUILD!

chill-outs

A five-day getaway from all the crap we NSFs suffered from the wrath of Regs has finally ended, but I did manged to rest and relax after the torturous HRCT I had last Wednesday. Never did much during this 5 days...

Slept the whole afternoon I did on my first duty off.

2nd day ken and gang called me to go to alvin's house to have some outdoor games, but I was still asleep! haha In the end, the rain made everything go down the drain. Instead, cs, alvin, jon, ken and me went to turf city for our dinner. The place was rather 'penang-like' (if you know what I mean...lolx). Not many souls around either. No wonder they offered 30-min free shuttle bus to and fro. Their giant supermarket was really giagantic! xD

3rd night went out with les and low for a plate of punggol nasi lemak for supper. Time to start counting down to ORD! =p

Completing NFS-Most Wanted really soon...Now ranking at Blacklist #3!

Not forgetting to take this opportunity to study..haha but didn't study much. Currently stopped at shapes of molecules. Not sure whether i should revise on Math or not....

My VisualDNA

MOOD : EASY RIDER (Always taking life how it comes, and living in the moment. They don't get fazed by life... they just breeze through.)

You're a bit of a romantic and have a taste for the exotic. You love feeling the sea breeze in your hair, sun on your skin... Slip those shoes off... You like to kick back. When it comes to art, you're definitely unconventional. You like to think differently, always from another perspective. You have a good sense of humour. As for music, you're a discerning listener - romantic and passionate. You love the buzz you get from watching music live 0 there's nothing like it. Your choice of treat shows you love being a little bit naughty. Being good all the time is a bore. You've got a good sense of fun and maybe an infectious giggle.

FUN: ESCAPE ARTIST (They are forever slipping off, getting away from the rat race, and recharging those batteries. Independent, and thoughtful - they know themselves well.)

You like to take any opportunity to keep in shape, your health is really important to you. You are driven, and have lots of energy and ambition. For kicks, you're definitely competitive and easily hooked... You like the discipline of honing your skills and getting really good at something. You tend to stamp your foot when things don't quite go your way! When it comes to holidays, you like to explore and immerse yourself in another culture. Always on the go, you take in as much as you can. You find it hard to switch off, as you like to learn all the time. What grosses you out? Nobody is perfect but some bad habits aren't acceptable; you realise that health is wealth.

HABITS: JUNKIE MONKEY (They don't have rules, and they don't like restrictions. They make their own choices, and do as they please. For them pleasure always comes first.)

Even if you have a healthy approach to life, you still have your vices and a craving hunger drives your needs! So you'll supersize it, you love convenience and that taste... Clean and pure - your choice of drink shows that on the whole you care about your health and make sure you're putting the right stuff in. As for the home you have very cool and contemporary tastes - a bit of a style monger actually. It's not just about function - your environment has to be as stylish as you are.

LOVE: HOME SOUL (Their heart is always at their nest, they place real importance on friendships. They are family minded, and forge strong relationships.)

You're a real home soul. You care deeply about family life and all that comes with it, the love between a parent and child is so special. When you think of freedom - nature takes over. Getting back, out into the wilderness is a big draw.

only on Earth Day

Only on Earth Day do we start thinking about how to save the environment. The sad thing is majority of us will not have any course of action; they just THINK only. The minority will try to change their lifestyle for a start to reduce, reuse and recycle, but for a limited time only. Try as they might, they just couldn't adapt to it. Well, at least there are a couple of us here on Earth, the Earth Protectors (lolx), who will consistently save whatever they can.

On this day, news are spreading messages to conserve for our habitat's sake. You can see footage of governments/corporations/individuals planting tree/s, reducing the use of plastic bags, cutting down residential utilities usage etc...However, most of these gimicks are like short plays you see on stage. Once that week is over, they'll go back to releasing more SO2, CO2, CO and CFCs and it's relatives that'll destroy the ozone layer and worsen the already undesirable global warming.

With the change in the seasonal climatic change around the globe, species that couldn't adapt just in time will die to extinction. Floods, droughts, drop in land area etc will be the challenges we have to face in time to come. What we can do now is to do our part as the dominant Earthlings - Stop Wasting, Start Saving.

first treat

It's about a week or so I last went back to nyco. They'd improved much since. Still the newbies need to practice many many more!~ Wish them all the best to get GOLD! But I think it's quite unreachable when we're sandwiched between HCI and NJC.

Low sms-ed me out of the blue asking whether want to have dinner with our pw guys. They suggested AMK S11 but we changed the location to my uncle's tze cha at TPY since low is treating and it was his idea~ xD Frankly speaking, we ordered quite alot! kangkong, salad you tiao, tie ban dou fu, gu lu rou, xia jiang ji, BBQ stingray + 1 plate of kai lan which was given to us wrongly...all thanks to lim~ haha long story.......... Anyway, thanks low for treating us drinks and dinner! Although it was abit late after you POP...it's better than none =)

Really agree with what yx blogged about today. You put up a front while carrying out your duties but will return back to your usual self off duty. I'm not a guy who likes to be bossed around , like what some of the regulars forte in.

Duties left close to 2 digits! ENDURE!

STFU!

The following entry is taken from here!

"I don’t want to hear anymore about your justifications and rationalisations. Obviously you guys have no intention of listening to any of the people, so why should we the people listen to you.....So shut the fuck up and enjoy your riches. Just don’t tell me you are doing this for my own good or for the good of the country."

"Look around you, the MRT toilets, the hawker centres, the shopping malls. It pains me to see so many old folks cleaning tables, toilets, picking up after us. Is this the so-called first world nation that the MIWs has built and is this why we have to pay them millions upon millions of dollars?"

"And their grand masterplan to narrow the widening income gap?

Raise the fucking GST!!!"

WOOT! Nice one there!

AND STOP TRYING TO PACIFY ME WITH A $50 ALLOWANCE RISE AND A GST OFFSET PACKAGE OF $100/YR FOR A 7% GST (AND MANY MANY MORE) FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE ON MY BIRTHDAY!

No. 1 in pay!

Congratulations to Singapore again! We've once again climb up the global ranking of ministerial pay. With our PM's pay 3 times higher than Bush and 8 times higher than Abe. And the highest pay award goes to our MM!

Using the increment of all civil servants salaries as a decoy, they made quite a big profit. Who knows how much will they be getting for the 2nd increment.

With this increment, they've greatly narrowed their income gap. Yankee-Echo-Sierra! I mean 'THEIR'. Now, they won't feel inferior to the top earners from Singapore. As for the middle-income and low-income groups, I guess they'll have to wait until the opposition party to act to their calling.

Thier points of argument are "to continue to have a honest government", "to attract more people into the civil service/government"...

Have they thought about these? The corrupted minds will still be hungry for more even though they already had a astronomical amount of salary? Will the next generation of government be sincerely wanting to help Singapore to prosper or goes for the salary?

Now we know why some people are still out of home, live to worry about their livelihood and stuggling to make ends meet.

Let's celebrate that we'll still need to work until we die to support ourselves.

a perfect gift

Had been busy for the past couple of days. Went to 'sao mu' on 'qing ming jie'. Going to 'guang ming shan' is like a yearly affair for me. However, we had since lost our tradition in paying a visit to my grandfather and uncle together and having a breakfast afterthat. It seems like more of us are busy with their own things.

In the same afternoon, I went out with jon and jon (and no, it's not typo error....it's jon and jon jr. lol) to think of and scout for ken's present, which we had only 2 more days to do so! I thought of making the present into a package-like thingy which will serve as a 'survival kit' for his stint in uni. We bought a mini-pillow, jacket and a polo-shirt on that day. Jon went to sim lim to buy a 2GB thumbdrive the next day and I went to ikea to buy a foldable rack with drawers plus a box to put all these stuffs after my duty yesterday.

Those whom I'm sharing the present with (cs, mt, tr, ws, wx, jon and jon jr...well wx didn't really went) went over to mt's house to complete the DIY 'photoframe cum birthday card'. Physics is killing me again. Had to design such that the tension to each strings on each frames can reach an equilibrium at the top pivot. Luckily no glitches happened. We cutted out and pasted photos as old as 7 years ago on each frames and wrote our birthday wishes at the back of it. We started at 14 00 and completed it at around 18 00, and the party starts at 18 00! lolx

It's nice meeting up with the co gang again. Talk cock and stuffs. We manage to get ken in the pool but ws went in accidentally himself as well. xD There goes his HP and wallet. Hopefully everything would be all right.

What a night~

young at heart or for real?

This afternoon thought was going to have some 'high tea' session with the s3a guys but it flopped anyway. Luckily some of my sec. school ex-MSCO seniors going back, so I went to have a look at their 2nd last practice. (sad that I can't watch their performance at the SYF competition on Tues...)

The cellos obviously had improved tremendously. There was more feel and the notes were played quite perfectly. The Tan Bo Yue is as good as before. lolx (Really, I'm not a bias guy xD) The Xian Yue still got room for improvement for their tempo and pitching. Percussions' rythmn was on and off. The woodwinds were better than last year but still have quite abit to improve on the expressions etc.

After hearing today's practice, their chance of getting Gold this year is about 60%. They are still in the Silver category. Sigh...when will we get our first Gold?!

Anyway, cs drove lian kai, ken, prahlad and me to AMK hub afterthat while jon rode his bike there. We dined at New York New York. The price was mid-range but the ambience was quite good. At least better than swensens. Their menu is also way more variety. They even serve free candy floss for their patrons. However, what is comparable is their service.

Had a damn full dinner tonight; with the fish n' chips and mudpie with ice-cream + abit of fondue.

I was quite amused or rather amazed when some people say I don't look like my age. xD Any other people agree on that? =p

HAPPY APRIL'S FOOL!!!!! XD
