ORD LOH!!!! =]
First attempt - CSM (Company Sergeant Major) not around. Second attempt - storeman not around. It's the third attempt that I finally got my pink IC back after 1 year 10 months!!!=)
The Enlistment
My enlistment was on 11th April 2006, 10 40 HRS and I was suppose to report to SCDF - BRTC (Basic Rescue Training Centre) at Jln Bahar. After 3 days of being a Recruit, we got our first public holiday -Good Friday before some of us got posted for the 21ST Emergency Response Specialist Course on the following Monday.21ST ERS CourseThe first few weeks were very 'fierce'. Some of us even thought of getting OOC (Out Of Course). However, we continued to strive on and endure the full 24 weeks of rigorous trainings (i.e. fire, rescue, HazMat, comms, Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam etc.) before we had our POC (Pass-Out Ceremony) and became full-fledged Fire and Rescue Specialist - Section Commander after earning our Fire Badge and Sergeant rank.

I was told to go back and report to work on Rota 2's duty which was on the 11th.
I didn't like the environment and working style due to many reasons. However, with some of the buddies I'd made during the first few duties, I'd came to fit into this lifestyle better.
The station life
The daily routine was mundane but we still had to carry out. We had our daily morning scenario drill at 09 00 (except Saturday which is meant for station open house) followed by CAAD (Chemical Agent Acclimation Drill) at 11 00 (starts at 11 30 for fire post crew). 12 00 will be our equipment checks and we'll have our lunch OTOT. 14 00 fall in to do another round of equipment checks and then some of us will go out for operational survey, enforcement checks or hydrant testing; if not it's OTOT again! 16 30 will be our PT (Physical Training) where some of us will be playing soccer or go to the gym. 18 00 to 20 00 will be our dinner and rest time before we fall in again then proceed for night lecture until 21 30. The fire post crew will have their time doing their own things. That's why the DO (Duty Officer) crew will randomly do spot-checks every now and then. After night lecture will be OTOT again and we'll fall in again the next morning at 05 55. (For the fire post crew, they need to leave the fire post by 05 30). 06 00 will be our equipment drill and 07 00 will be our BTM (Basic Tasks Manual) drill before we have a morning roll call and hand over to the next rota (Rota 1) at 08 00.For the whole 24 hours, we had to be alert for fire calls. After missing 1 fire call =x, I was able to adapt to this lifestyle of being woken up by sirens and phone calls in the middle of the night. *Some of the 100 over fire calls call chits I've kept. But can't show it here 'cause it's restricted documents! =x
The plot of land I 'bought' during one of the hydrant testing at sentosa cove >.< Apart from going for fire calls, we sometimes had to organise certain events such as community bonding day, station function and rota bonding day. Moreover, we'll need to attend to workshops, ceremonies and parades every now and then.

During my stay in STN 12, I'd learned alot of things from lots of people like sharif, azari, fazly, lina, irman, md noor, woon, wira, bashir and razak. I also met alot of nice buddies like aris, azar, azman, azim, adil, dino, dingding, jihad, jason, ow, sharil and abdullah. And not forgetting my welfare senior officers OC - MAJ Lim and RC - CPT Shaiful.
Yesterday, I took back my pink IC together with my NS certificate. On top of that, I was awarded the Perfect Attendance Award and was given a certificate and a Swatch watch! (OC even gave me his name card =p) Before I left the station, I left a message in my locker xD. Hopefully they can see it.My ORD certificates! My 'no-MC' watch xD
Not only did I took back my pink IC home but more importantly, I also brought home several life skills and precious experiences which not many people will ever be able to learn and experience in their lifetime. I made it myself =] ('Zeng 12)
