Woot!~ Finally able to get a ticket for last Saturday's Play! A Video Game Symphony. Jio-ed wenshu with me as well. =D Sad to say, the surrounding audiences were disturbed by the few people sitting beside me making lots of noise. Guess what?! They thought this 'symphony' was supposed to be trying out some video games. Well, they're partly correct as there were a few XBOX 360 demos for Blue Dragon®. They didn't know that this was a symphony concert!! What a waste of tickets and for those who were eager to watch this Asian Premiere.
Anyway, the concert was superb! =D It's better watching it live than watching it through your computer monitor from YouTube. xD This is an inaugural performance for Singapore Festival Orchestra. Well done for them as they only had a few rehearsals with the Principal Conductor before the actual concert with 19 pieces to perform. Maybe it's because some were professionals and some were winners from local competitions.
They played various songs from FINAL FANTASY®, SUPER MARIO BROS.®, SUPER MARIO WORLD®, CASTLEVANIA®, METAL GEAR SOLID®, BLUE DRAGON®, LOST ODYSSEY(TM), SONIC THE HEDGEHOG(TM), THE LEGEND OF ZELDA®, HALO®, CHRONO TRIGGER(TM), CHRONO CROSS(TM), WORLD OF WARCRAFT®, KINGDOM HEARTS(TM), SHENMUE(TM), DAYTONA USA(TM) and THE ELDER SCROLLS® IV: OBLIVION(TM).
Some pieces were quite nostalgic. With the 3 large screens showing video footages of the game itself with their theme's played, there was a sudden urge to re-play Nintendo and Sega games. Too bad SquareEnix refused to provide video footage for this concert in Singapore. Wonder why....? Bought a t-shirt from them at the end of the concert~xD
After the concert, wenshu went back to camp to continue his duty while I went to the library for some scores browsing. Jio-ed tzerong and jon jr. out for some free performances at Esplanade. The synthetic music arranged by one of the composer for Play! was uncalled for. I thought they would form up a small symphony ensemble. Later we went outside to watch a visual performance using sand by a person from France. The title was Luna Variations. He can really change and link from one 'scene' to the other; making connections with the moon (as the title suggest).
The newly POP-ed people were asking for some gathering; preferably within this week before they get their postings. Shall look forward to this meeting~ =p
