The first time I heard of AMD is during GP tutorial last year. And just recently, the government is encouraging us to apply to this directive.
AMD is an even merciful way of letting an individual to die off naturally without any life support/medication if you're suffering from terminal disease or comatose, compared to euthanasia. Let's see the procedures to apply...
Firstly, the doctor would provide advice and both you and the doctor would need to sign for a successful appplication together with another witness. When that day comes, the AMD information of yours would be taken from MOH and after the confirmation by at least 3 doctors...that's it... ...wait and die.
It's quite interesting to know that most of the young generation are more acceptable to this directive than the old. Perhaps we view life differently. The directive is good because it can help to lessen the load of the families not only emotionally but also financially. The hospitals would also have more vacancies for emergency cases. However, the directive doesn't seem to be perfect as yet. I feel that it would be better if the directive includes to monitor the patient for another period of time before executing the directive. Just to ensure. Who knows; miracle happens.
If you ask me whether I would apply - I wouldn't... ...as yet. Just waiting for a better deal~ lol
