3 or P?

Yesterday was Alexandra FS annual function night. We had a lucky draw with 25 prizes to be taken away. First prize - 21' slim TV, 2nd prize - PSP!!!! and third prize - DVD player. (these were the more anticipated prizes...don't really know what were the rest...the bottom few were some SCDF stuffs lol) It was such a waste as I woke up late and missed the chance to write my name down to participate in this lucky draw thingy. Sigh....if not I could have won something (cause the fraction of participators over prizes were quite high); maybe even the PSP!!! ARGH~~ That's life...But hey, at least I won myself a $20 voucher from NTUC after being the first to blow the ping pong ball burrowed in a bowl of flour. xD

Anyway, I accompanied my cousin, ah hao, to SLS to recee for his PS2/PSP. He's still sitting on the fence on whether to get PS2 slim or PSP. We gathered alot of prices from almost all the shops selling them, until we forgot which one got the best lobang. lolx Eventually, he settled down with the PSP Ver. 3.10 @ 293$ (inclusive of GST; standard pack). The shop owner looked and sounded uncannily suspicious but nevermind, he still have 7 days to have a 1-to-1 exchange. Hao tempted me to buy but I didn't. I'm still considering between PSP and PS3, so when the opportunity and time is right, I'll purchase it. Perhaps during my Uni. life then I'll get one. Just let me silently contemplate for another year. haha

P.S.: Hao: If I get PSP must let me download the games from you hor!~ xD

The 3-day CNY holidays! + many many more~

The first day we went unusually late to my grandma's house to bai nian. There wasn't any other relatives around as expected, so I'm the 'only' one there at that time. It was until late afternoon where the rest of my peers came. We gambled Blackjack for awhile before and after dinner before heading back to our respective homes by 21 30. (However, we did play about 1/2 hour of sparklers at the void deck =p) There wasn't much things happening. Perhaps it was because I didn't bring along any games. lol
The start of passing the fire on~~~

Aveline too scared of the loud whistling while the sparklers got ignited.

Nice ambience taken by me =p

Busy finishing the last packet of sparklers from last year. lolx (but we didn't manage to finish that packet anyway~)

The second day was a little better. There were only one of my cousin and myself watch the overwatched Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire in the early afternoon. We waited until late noon before the rest flooded in. We played abit of tennis (on PS2 though haha) and also Jenga - Truth or Dare. We played Blackjack with the adults as they were abit restless. haha However, we continued our own game of Saboteur. xD We played until quite late - till 22 00; before we kenna scolded for playing too long. =x It was fun nevertheless.

All the 孫子 with ah ma.

'may zi' with ah ma.

Aveline with ah ma.

The third day, I went for a 4 Francis gathering at PS. We had lunch at Secret Recipe with loba, jc, mark, sherman and of course our form teacher ms. jazilah. We treated her lunch while she treated each of us a drink at Starbucks. Afterwhich, ant. and joel came as well. We talk about the past ( and all the nasty things we did) and also about what we were doing in our NS (and pre-NS). Too bad she had to go back home to drown herself with the mountains of test papers for her to mark; leaving 6 of us (excluding mark) nothing much to do. We actually wanted to catch a movie before going home, but the tickets were all sold out (leaving the midnight movies) both in PS-GV and the cathay. We changed our plan to visiting the Istana. However, after witnessing the extremely long queue (estimated to be about 200m-250m in length), we forgo that thought. Last plan was to go to a LAN shop and have a challenge of COH (Company of Heroes). It was quite fun. haha After playing 2 games (where both teams were tied with 1-1 wins), we switched to playing CS (counter-strike). I didn't really like CS (and it has always been lolx). Maybe it's because I wasn't used to the controls and whatever technical stuffs about weaponaries. The funny thing was more and more strangers login to our network and played along as well. Total about 15 odd. We played for awhile before asking for bill. We played a total of 2+hours which cost us $6.50.

P.S.: Thanks jc for buying the rabbit bell keychain from Japan for us as a gift! =)

On the fourth day, where all (well most I say) NSFs would have booked in or have started their office working hours, I was busy with my SBJ training in the afternoon. haha Later in the late afternoon, I went over to my grandma's house to play with my cousins ( ah kiat, ah hao and aveline). We played PS2 games until 19 00 where we went to watch Epic Movie at TPY. It was a rather lame show. They want to fake also fake until very fake. Okay...whatever... I rate it 5/10. When we returned back to my grandma's house, we played Saboteur...and including my aunt. lolx There was really a generation gap. Shan't comment much. xD

On the fifth day, I went for my SBJ retest at CDA and I jumped 226!! Finally able to get a decent Silver for IPPT. The bad thing was I had to spend 3 hours travelling to and fro; and also had lost my Nalgene bottle along the way there. >_< Anyway, it was good that I'd passed my IPPT for this half of the work year. Woot! Went over to grandma's house again at 17 00, meeting the same group of cousins again. We had Blackmail and Saboteur. Had a whole lot of schemes throughout the 2-3 hours of gaming. lolx

Will we be having lo hei? Long time never lo liao~

The axiom

The axiom of festivals getting platitudinal over the years is really true and this feeling is spreading like an epidemic, or this is what I've heard from some. Before, when we were still deemed as 'kids', we would be obediently staying at our relative's home. The grown-ups would be having some data-gathering chat ( as in how they were doing over the past year and about their kid's education etc etc...) while we (kids then) would be running our minds wild by throwing out new and creative party games to play and have fun. We still could remember the 'Dark Room' game where we usually play at our Ah Ma or uncle's room. It's something like a hide-and-seek game. Also, we would always find ourselves at the playground in vicinity lighting up sparklers and all sorts of a-little-less-than-life-threatening acts. Those were the days where everyone would be there and really brought out the meaning of 'Reunion' with our families, as what the festivals aim to achieve.

Now, most of us are grown-ups. (or at least reached the minimal age to watch a M-18 movie in the cinemas) As a new generation, the definition of 'Reunion' seems to be deviating by 10° every year. The most prominent reason is most of us (the new generation) will be chilling out with our friends instead. Generally, we have other activities to attend to. Moreover, university undergraduates have to study for coming exams; NS guys ain't have mood to celebrate this festive season as joyfully compared to yesteryears as they have to dread about going back to camp meeting their less-than-welfare PS/PC once again; couples will be moving around between both families; leaving the singles with nothing better to do.

Nonetheless, we still have Reunion. Hopefully this year we'll be doing something happening!

Here's wishing everyone, especially those who feel a tinge of ennui in this 3-day stint of CNY,

新年快乐!! 恭喜发财!! 猪年行大运!!

Lesson learnt: Always be on the lookout to cover your backside!

The wardens should know better that parking at the double-yellow lines are against the law! 知法犯法! Tsk tsk...

"We are doing our duty..." by having breakfast?! Not all politically correct answers can cover backsides. They are really at the losing end. =p

jumping for the new year

Watched Borat recently (all thanks to my fellow fire fighter who lent to me =p) and it was somewhat a very 白痴 show for someone who's real real real real real BORED. There's some censored and deleted scenes. The things they do were so absurd that I doubt whether they were for real! lol Think anyone who saw this movie would be flabbergasted by the things he said during interviews, the dinner scene, staying overnight at a Jew's place and the last scene of him 'kidnapping' Pamela Anderson!

Another 5 days will be 初一. Think I will be going to buy my really last minute CNY thingy, and also stock up all the festive goodies cause currently only have 2 boxes of bak kwa, 1 packet of cashew nuts, 1 medium 'nian gao' and 1 pomelo....that'll be on Friday~

And on the 5th day of CNY, I'll be back at CDA to complete my SBJ..or rather I need to pass (that'll be 216cm) in order to pass my IPPT for the first half of the 2007 work year. Soon, HRCT and REPT will be up next around March/April period. Sigh...have to study and practice all over again. Afterwhich, I'll have to re-take for the 2nd half of the work year (in addition to 1 more BAPT).

FASTER ORD!!!!!!!

what to do?

CNY is drawing near and I've ought to buy some new clothes and stuffs to usher in the new year. Think I'm too lazy and tired to get out to shop around. lolx Or maybe I should just save the cash for rainy days?

With a compliment of 3 duties off during CNY period, I wonder how I could spend the 11 days. Stay at home? Go out alone? Study? haha

From US to Mexico to Morocco to Japan

A month had passed since the 04S3A people last met during the New Year. Me, zc, zy, les, low, quek, john and marcus went for a movie outing at PS to catch Babel. Had lunch with marcus. (the rest had taken already lol) Later low and john came and had their late lunch.

As usual, zc was late...or rather late~ =p But then he was still early for the movie! Anyway, Babel has the essence of Crash in it. However, Babel takes it with a different time frame for different scenes. Moreover, the link of the whole story was quite far-fetched, or is it just me? From a US couple, to a illegal Mexican maid with 2 of the US couple's children, to 2 Moroccan boys, to a Japanese man with his deaf-mute teenage daughter - all linked directly...or indirectly. However, the messages that were supposed to be brought across was quite clear. For example, the grossly exaggerated stance on the firing of the US woman by the government who are quick to label it as the act of terrorists. Also, the desperate urge for attention, which gone wrong, of the disabled Japanese teenage girl due to the lack of societal acceptance. Overall, I feel that the movie was abit random and I thought it was an impromptu script-writing. lol I rate it 7.5/10.

That aside, low just bought les a 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and me a 'Final Fantasy X' poster each from his OCS training trip to Thailand. Thanks for that...really appreciate it! =)

CNY is around the corner and I haven't prepared or bought anything to welcome the Year of the Pig! hmmm....

fastest finger first

This soloist played the fastest for this song (中阮協奏曲 雲南回憶 第三樂章) compared to the rest of the players I've heard. Think it's even faster than the composer-cum-player himself! =x But she flopped at one of the parts while the orchestra wasn't that fantastic either. I rate it 9/10. It would've been perfect. =p
