life drifting away; seconds by seconds

This weekend wasn't an eventful one. Due to the SISPEC people POP-ing on Saturday, they were really tired to chill out at night to catch X Men 3 or something. Can't blame them though, 24 hrs without sleep... ...

Nonetheless, we had a mini-supper session at our usual place. Don't know why but I ordered lots of food - prata, popiah and hokkien mee. Woot! Maybe it's because I've not eaten such food for the pass 2 weeks already. (Or is it the 'yaoguiness' in me was getting psyched up?! =x)

Today also wasted my weekend by staying at home cause of the last minute rain and non-stop drizzling. If not, we would be having lunch somewhere. (Got a feeling we would be eating western at Kovan. lol) Well, you can say that it's good to rest at home for the coming 'xiong' week, but I beg to defer as I'm getting tormentally-disturbed rather bored just wondering around the room aimlessly. However, I'd thought that we would be walking around aimlessly too if we were to be chilling out in town. Such perplexed situations... ...

Anyhow, I've accepted NTU Chemistry and Biological Chemistry Course offer. (Think I would meet some of the 04S3A people again~) Actually I'm quite relief cause I'm starting to doubt whether do I have the capability to score well for Chem Eng. Whatever it is, my future is somehow planned. Routes are quite visible now - RnD or teacher. Think I would go into the industries to get some hands-on experience than change to teaching. But it's still early to say.

What les said in his latest entry was true. We are being controlled by the society rather than we are controlling it. But what makes the society? - Us. It figures.

surviving 21st ERS course (week 6 out of 24)

Sad to say I went back to camp 12 hours after my book out. Quite lame but no harm booking out to sleep on my own bed and eating food outside of camp. =p

This week was quite slack. Went to MTV(Mandai Training Village) (not Music Television) on Monday doing rescue equipment training. After that day was lectures and more lectures on Voice Procedures through radio sets etc. Will be having pratical and theory tests on the 2nd week of June.

While practicing for our SOC on Tuesday, my blisters (both my hands) was torn and bleeding during the 3rd trial at the monkey bar obstacle. Went to the MO to get the wound dressed. Damn pain when they cut off the excess skin and swipe the alcohol on my wounds! I'm semi-light duty from then on. Tried to skip morning 5-BX and BTM so as to recover as soon as possible for my Friday's IPPT. sigh...

I nearly was going to be assessed for my footdrill commanding. Luckily they stopped; that means I've more time to revise on my commands lolx.

Today had my IPPT and sad to say I only manage to get a pass all because of my SBJ. But I was surprised that I broke my record for my 2.4km run. I ran the timing of 9:36. My previous record was 10:21. Since more than half of my Rota 2 people manage to pass our IPPT, our Encik kept his promise and gave us 1 nights-off during the week when we're getting our allowance. But since we didn't get 20 Golds for the whole cohort, our PTI realised our deal by giving us 5o counts of 8 of jumping jacks and squat thrusts after our IPPT. They didn't just stop there; they carried on with more push ups, jumping jacks, squat thrusts, advance squat thrusts, crunches and leg raise before we were dismissed for OTOT (own time, own target).

Finally able to book out in peace this week! Swee! Saw our next week's programme timetable, and it's damn xiong. Hope I'm prepared for it. But for now, ENJOY MY WEEKENDS!!

sacrificing my weekends

sigh...one of my Sunday and Saturday were taken away from me to do two 24-hrs guard duty. And I couldn't meet up with my family and friends - can't sleep on my own bed, eat home-cooked meal, watch movie and chill out with friends...

But looking on the brighter side, I've got to know the Provost (same job as a MP-Military Police) there much better. And they had a good impression on us too. Think our guard duty is not that bad afterall. Better than doing guard duty in the Army? Can they order fastfood delivery in the middle of the night? Talk cock with the Provost?

Although I've missed the Da Vinci Code outing with the S3A people(T_T), but I hope I'll not miss the X-men 3:The Last Stand! (Think I'll be watching Da Vinci Code with my sis?)

Guess what? I'm so desperate now that I'm counting down to my next book out day!!! Cross my fingers that Pandora will not eat much into my Saturday if it's on this Friday~ =x

surviving 21st ERS course (week 5 out of 24)

Had my first guard duty on Sunday. It wasn't that bad afterall. Perhaps it's because I got the lucky slot whereby I only need to go for one round only. (equivalent to 4 hours out of 24 hours!) We got to sleep in the air-conditioned Guard Room. However, didn't brought any extra clothings, so was very cold when sleeping in the night. lol Swee, can skip morning PT on Monday morning! =p

"It's mind over body"..."Cannot take it go drop course!"...These are some of the psychoing they did to us this week. I can safely deem this week as the xiong-est week out of these 5 weeks we've endured. All the 200-300 pumpings everyday, shoutings, scoldings, mental torture, tests... It's really all in the mind.

Had our REPT (Rescue Equipment Proficiency Test) on Thursday. Luckily this week wasn't my turn for the footdrill assessment yet. =x We did our REPT revision on Wednesday and I clinched 2 records out of the 5 equipments, but I wasn't on form on the actual test itself...sigh... nonetheless, I can still manage to get a 2nd Class grade.

We didn't get any SOC training this week, but we had IPPT conditioning! It was really exerting ourselves to the max! Did 5-BX, push-ups, 2.4km involving some sprinting, and MORE PUSH-UPS!! Think we did 200 plus or so that day.

Thought I could book out today (Friday) safely. BUT...that very morning I tio extra guard duty!!
Sian. This week is a suay week for me. Cause we went for the BA (Breathing Apparatus) Maze, whereby there's lots of smoke and in the absence of light, we had to find our way through toward the exit. The suay thing was that the last man from my section got lost in the middle of the maze and nobody knows until the rest got through the exit. At the end of the lesson, Encik punish us for not taking care of our own men and gave us extra guard duty tomorrow(Saturday)!! Even more sian!! Cause I've already done my weekend guard duty on this week's Sunday. And now, I'm serving my weekend guard duty again. Consecutively. Sigh... Hopefully none of such stupid things will happen to me and anyone of us ever again! We desperately need our weekends!

Rumours about the Pandora Exercise is spreading this week again. But it was a false alarm yet again. Hopefully they can end it once and for all by next week ya?

Now I've to enjoy my few hours outside. Luckily Encik extend another 30 minutes for our book in timing to 21 30. Swee! I can stay outside for another 30 minutes! Cross fingers nobody will book in later than 21 30, if not Encik will shorten the book in timing. =x

human rights vs survival skills

Thursday night went to have dinner with my Rota 2 people at Seoul Garden @ marina square after we booked out. Had to wait for them for 1 hour +...Our encik also joined us for dinner. Coincidentally, we meet some of the xiao yuan superstar finalists with fang zhong hua eating there also~

Friday went to have lunch @ Curry Favor with jj, sf, john and quek. Quek and I ordered the extra spicy curry, but it turn out to be not that spicy. Overall the taste was alright. Rate it 6.5/10.

Later we went to watch Poseidon with zy, les and low joining us as well. This movie made you think about the immediate life and death decisions you need to make. Is it right to let one die and save the other? etc...Such situations are quite controversial. There would be no right or wrong decisions. Anyway, I'll rate it 7/10.

We went straight to lim's house while quek had to go back camp. Ordered pizza hut and watch FFVII:AC while munching on my long awaited pizza. Swee! How long did I last ate a pizza? Think it was last year I suppose.

I hurried back home to sent my sis off to China for some medical attachment over there. Got home around 03 00! And I had to wake up by 07 00 to go ICA for passport extention. That would be less than 4 hours of sleep! Luckily the process of extending my passport is relatively fast albeit it was a long queue. I'll be doing guard duty tomorrow. Wonder if I can tahan or not...Hope I can get enough sleep for Monday's trainings...

surviving 21st ERS course (week 4 out of 24)

First morning and we were given early breakfast cause the PTI didn't came down for morning PT. woot! The following days they eventually came but the exercises were less xiong than last week's.

This week seems to be hotter than any other weeks; don't why the sun comes out when we were training and dark clouds when we go for lunch or dinner...imagine wearing the same soaking wet (with sweat) uniform for 5 consecutive days! Even my socks were soaking wet after trainings. Can literally see drops of sweat dripping through my pants down to the outside of my fire boots; and sweat falling down to the ground from the sleeves of my fireman jacket. This had been quite a routine this week; and I think it'll be the same for the coming weeks as well...

Luckily this week we didn't have any SOC or mass PT. Neither did we have surprise Pandora Exercise. Think we should be activated for the exercise by this coming week.

Mental endurance is the phrase to describe the trainings for this week. We were being tekaned alot. Changing parade, change exercise positions, run-&-touch something etc... Everyone was really pushed to their limits. But in the end your confidence level would have increased as you had endured all this mental torture.

We nearly got confinement for this weekend cause of some black sheeps in Rota 1. But luckily nothing happened. Tomorrow morning I would be doing my first guard duty. Wish me luck and hope I wouldn't get sleepy on monday morning~=p

a little breather

Yesterday went out with hk, zy, les, lim, john and quek and we were supposed to watch MI3 in the late afternoon. Little did we know (or perhaps we've got this feeling already) that the tickets would had been sold out by the time we got to the ticketing box; and the next session was 21 55!! I don't want to take a cab back again~ lol. So we chose to watch When A Strager Calls... It's one of the suckiest not-so-good thriller/suspense movie I've ever watched. It failed miserably judging from its plot, action, ending etc. I'll rate it 1.5/10. (You should know by now it's a mustn't watch movie of the month! =p) The plot was already so simple and they made it even simpler by cutting down the action in just 10-15 minutes!! And the show just ended from there abruptly.

After the much 'critically acclaimed' movie, we went to eat the usual chicken rice restaurant while zy left for other things. And as usual, we went to have a bowl of dou hua and a cup of dou hua shui.

Had a walk around HMV and to my surprise FFVII:AC had finally came to Singapore!! However, it's sad that the DVD version is sold out and the new stock will come by next week. So I'll just have to wait for another week...

Continued our journey to Wisma for toilet. lol When we were just about to get out to the mrt station, the security halted us and demanded directed us to use the 2nd floor for the exit. Sigh... have to re-walk the distance we just covered 10 minutes ago.

Went home to catch the polling results. Was quite boring as the results were expected. lolx

surviving 21st ERS course (week 3 out of 24)

Looks like I've got to know more people this week and also forged a greater bond with the people I've got to know during my first week there. It's quite motivating when everyone is encouraging one another when enduring is the only option for us.

This week is more xiong. Had lots of BTM(Basic Task Manual - the basic task to set up equipments during operations) and SOC. We had 2 SOC this week; usually is once every week. Completed all the obstacles. Had problem with the jacob's ladder. I was stuck at the top during my first attempt cause was abit scared of falling due to the holes in between the logs. lolx But had a sense of acheivement when I overcame that fear on my 2nd try; went all the way without hesitation~ Hopefully I will be able to pass...passing time is 9 minutes!!

The firefighters are quite a bunch of jokers. Always play around; that's why they kenna tekan by the PTI cause they too slack. They also like to cut queue when we taking our meals. tsk tsk...Next time when they under us then they know~ lolx =p

On the last day I was quite shag already. Still need to carry 2 hoses at one time. My elbow abit pain! Must rest well when I book out. If not will get entrapped into the viscous cycle. =x

Luckily we didn't get activated when we booked out cause our encik says we might be called up to go for the surprise Pandora Exercise. So it should be next week bah. =)

at the last minute...

Yesterday was suppose to catch a movie with the class but most of them were already hanging out with their friends/gf so it flopped. (Actually jj, lim and low could carry on watching The Art of Seduction in the afternoon. =p)

In the late afternoon they wanted to have a dinner then catch a movie. I suggested to go for Pepper Lunch. Wanted to try it since wx said it was quite good. Their concept was quite refreshing. It's a hybrid of concepts- fast food+restaurant+DIY. You'll order like the fast food style; get your number plate and wait to be served just like in a restaurant and you'll have to cook your own food yourself on the hot plate! The food is quite nice. However it's abit pricy judging by the quantity of food served. Overall I rate it 6.5/10.

Low wanted to watch Daisy at 21 40 but was afraid we would miss the last bus so we decided to go to lim's house instead! It's really a LLOOOONNNNGGG distance walk. Wonder how he get out and go back. Nonetheless, his house is really BIG; so is his room. Lots of cupboards, a big comfy bed, study table, big toilet with bath tub and a basin with a large area of table top and lastly a large area of empty space in the centre of his room which I suppose its purpose is to accomodate his friends all in his room.

Had supper over his house; eating the leftovers left by his mother's friends/relatives. Bee hoon with curry and coming next was kuey and fruits. Low suggested to have a bball session today. Called up all the regulars and told them about it; but some was in their lala-land we suppose. Left his house around 00 15. All of us took taxi back. Was damn tired after I got home... ...

Not all of us could wake up early today and hk had to go out later I guess, so bball session was flopped. Paiseh to let yx wait at the court for nothing~
