Booking in for the second time but this time our bags were checked by the Provosts. Every action must be fast if not will kenna punishment.
This week was really sick - from bad to worse. Coughing more frequent and got a hot sensation around my body occasionally. Must be because of the hot weather together with the accompaniment of our thick fire jacket and lagging. You'll really feel that you're an eskimo living in Sahara. No kidding. But luckily there's some drizzling in one of our BTM (Basic Training Manual). Went to see the MO on Thursday and got myself 2 days of light duties. This means that I'll not be able to participate in the IPPT categorisation.
Footdrill is really difficult to comprehend especially so when I'm a Chinese. Must start to learn some basic Malay Language.
It's quite stressful being an ERS Trainee. Have to study and train at the same time. Somewhat like going back to the good old days in school... ...but not really that good. Training is seriously tough. Maybe I'm not used to this regiment thingy cause I've only been enlisted for barely 2 weeks.
Started to get to know more of the people there, especially my bunk mates. I'm quite lucky to have the majority of them showing their initiative to work as a team either in training or dorm cleaning.
Being the Dorm IC for this week, I was in-charge of all the matters related to our dorm. As for the bookout day dorm inspection, we forgot to clean the lower part of the table, that's why we kenna. Sigh. Fortunately my job is done and over, and it's time to move on.
So much to learn, so little time for revision. Think I'll have to start revision early before it's too late!
This week is our long bookout! Woot! Now must enjoy while we still can!
This week I was being transferred from BRTC (Basic Rescue Training Centre) to CDA (Civil Defence Academy) for my 21st ERS Course. This also means that my rank has changed from a Recruit to a Trainee (a.k.a. SCT- Specialist Cadet Trainee).
When I first step into my dormitory, I've already preferred BRTC. At first I thought CDA will be a cool and vibrant place compared to BRTC. But then it was totally opposite of what I've assumed. The toilets are hauntingly dirty, beds and pillows are yellow-blackishly revolting and lockers are filled with spiders, cobwebs and dusts. Back in BRTC everything is clean, and even their beds are thicker than CDA. In CDA, you can even feel the bed railings on your backs.
Meal times were much better. At least you need not wash your plates and utensils after eating, this which was required for us back in BRTC. But the food here is of lower quality than BRTC. Wonder if it was the same caterer. Just take a look at their company motto - "We serve quality food, prompt and friendly." Wonder which can be agreeable.
Trainings were quite xiong. Need to wear No. 4 together with a helmet, fireman jacket and lagging (a.k.a. pants). You can imagine having a sauna inside!
Our Enciks were quite welfare to us although they will always show their stern face to us. But then when they are really angry, unpleasant words will start to fly out. That's why in that camp, I hardly ever hear much taboo languages. Average of once a day I suppose! lolx
Things I've observed this from this week...
'back' is pronouced as 'buck'.
Encik will always say "...lessson learnt arh..." when someone did a mistake or something.
He also will say "...touching arh..." and put his hand on his heart. lol
PTIs like to tekan us, but then they have their limits lah. So not too bad.
Don't ever talk back and refute what Sgt. has said.
Got sick this week. Down with a sorethroat. Hope I'll recover by book in tomorrow night.
Going to book in back to camp soon. 20 30 must be there already. Sigh. Preparation was quite a chore. Have to plan what to put and how to put. Hope I've got everything needed. (except my family photo which my 'ham sup' DIs requested us to bring lolx =p)
I'll deem this coming week as the Trial and Error Week. Get use to the routine and prepare anything else or exclude anything which is not really neccessary. Hope everything goes well by the following week.
By this friday everyone of us would have been enlisted already.(les being the last survivor as a civilian! =) Wish every NSF to get the least number of 'tekans' they 'tio' and will get nice sgts, sirs, enciks. Enjoy!
Went out with jj, zc, zy, les, lim, low and quek on my very first book out to town. Had our not-so-satisfied dinner at NYDC.(*start hearing the debates between zc and les... ... lolx) Watched Firewall afterthat. Quite an exciting show. I rate it 8/10. Not a nice conclusion is where they've failed. Had a quick chilling out at the nearest kopitiam there for a drink. Shared rojak with zc. The stall vendor like quite pissed off with zc and vice versa. haha shan't comment more.
Today went for KBox with hk, zy, adelene, les and low. Nothing much to do when you're going back to camp soon. Sigh.
Pray will not tio extra this coming weekend!
Hey! Finally my first book out! Woot!! My first 3 days in camp wasn't that difficult to survive. Actually it was quite slack. Even more slack then my sec 1 orientation camp I think. lol
I'm in Charlie company, Platoon 7, Dormitory 14, Bunk 2. I was fortunate enough to get the best DI(Drill Inspector-DI Aizuddin and Azni), PS(Platoon Sergeant-Sgt Frank) and PC(Platoon Commander-LT Ben). Swee~ All treat us very well. Not like the rest from other platoons and company. Either they tekan alot or never joke with you. For us, our DI always joke and laugh with us sometimes also ask about ourselves and tell us some interesting things in BRTC(Basic Rescue Training Centre) and CDA(Civil Defence Academy). Our PS and PC quite welfare to us. Spend time to talk to us and ask if we got problems now and then.
The PTI(Physical Training Instructor) there are quite crazy except for 2 lah. The rest tekan us like kkj anytime -anywhere but those 2 treat us like friends when not in training.
But I think when I get into CDA on Monday things will have a 180 degrees change. Training more xiong, more tekan from the higher authorities etc. Must prepare both mentally and physically these couple of days. Must get Silver for IPPT(Individual Physical Proficency Test) to pass my ERS(Emergency Response Specialist) course!! And there will be multiples of lectures definitely. lol
Hope I can get through this shit for 6 months and pass out as a Sgt too!! Cool sia!
Here a bid goodbye to all avid bloggees who have been catching up with my blog since my first entry. haha
Cya guys! Will blog about my SCDF life soon^_^
*off to BRTC............
Had my last outing with jj (who left shortly though), lim and quek. Sad the rest cannot make it. Anyway, we went to the new Cathay cineplex to watch Ice Age 2. lol. I'll rate it a 6.5/10. Had chicken rice for dinner at the usual place and drank 'tao huay' as well. Woot. It was like 3 weeks ago we were once there.
Maybe can meet up with some of the hougang gang bros for lunch later? Shrugs.
Time flies. So 'kin'! By now, (this made me link to xiao yuan superstar theme song~ =) I should be preparing to leave the civilian world; entering a brand new NS world albeit I'm reticent. Cut things short, just want to tell all my bros n sis's.....

It's kind of uncanny seeing 2 people of indirect relations with me smoking in public. One was a sporty ex-marist and another unrecognised overaged-NY guy. Quite appalled when he's wearing the NY house t-shirt and chopsticking a cigarette. Woot. 不怕死!
Couldn't comprehend why so many people wants to try smoking, chasing dragons etc. Not that they don't have any idea about the slow annihilation part of them but perhaps it was a rushing decision they have made which they wouldn't regret now but later. That's life --Once bitten, twice shy. Always hearing "You wouldn't know unless you try it" this kind of "encouraging" remarks. But some things are better left alone. Not that I want to donate a healthy organs to someone who needs it badly (actually I don't! lol. cause I do not want to donate my organs to someone who destroyed their own themselves.) but I prefer my last couple of decades living on Earth to be less of an agony and dependant.
There's still alot of other unacceptable doings of imbeciles like spitting, digging nose, uninitiative acts, selfishness, littering etc.
Would like to listen to what they have to say about their acts. Think they would give that air of arrogance! lol
It seems pointless jio-ing people. After entering their new unit, our outings have since flopped. Some MIA, some got other things and stuffs. Hmm...1 more week and I won't be seeing them for the next 3 weeks.
Wonder if that was our last?
