Chapter 6 - Pulau Ubin Adventure Trip
It was after the Mid-Year Exams that we thought of going to Ubin for some cycling there. P.S.: The day before the last paper, 1 July 2005, we went to J8 and watch Initial D at 13 25! Row J centre column. It was physics MCQ though. lol. Anyway, we went to Ubin on 5 july 2005. Me, dz, hk, jj, sf, yx, zy, lim and quek met early in the morning to take the boat to Ubin. Lim brought his digital camera but his usage policy was strictly taking pictures of scenaries and animals only.
Once we set foot on the island, we wanted to take a photo of us at the entrance with the 'Welcome' signboard, but we didn't get any photos taken then. Pity. We walked further in to rent bicycles. Simultaneously, everyone smeared themselves with insect repellent gel on all exposed surface on our body to repel mosquitoes in addition to quek's mosquito coils! We cycled around the island aimlessly. In the early afternoon, we stop over at one of the drinks stall to have some coconut drink before continuing our adventure. Went to alot of places. We cycled uphill and downhill. Uphill was tough but downhill was thrilling! Fast speed was dangerous but then the excitment is there making adrenline rushing!
Quite a number of accidents happened. Once was sf screaming and yx got shocked then fell down from his bike. lol. The other incident was zy flew out of his bike while speeding down the steep slope. His injury was the most 'jialat' one.
We stop over at one area where we saw several dogs stationed there. When they saw us, the are like walking nearer and nearer to us, so we quickly left the place. Little did we know that got 1 black dog was following us. Jialat! But soon, we lost it. Then, quek brought us to a hidden area which bikes cannot get through. We walked through the dense trees and found a secret place. The first thing that caught my sight was the well....heh. Well, nothing much happened there. There's a row of houses but it seems that nobody's been staying in the houses. Also, there's a public toilet but it's not in use anymore. We took a quick bite over at the shelter then set off to cycle to the quarry. Before we cycled to the quarry we took the only photo taken that day.
We only took a small glimpse on the quarry. Cannot see much of it cause it's out of bounds to the public. About evening time, we left Ubin. On the boat back to the mainland, I learnt that I've 'lost' my watch! DIE! Search my bag thrice but it wasn't there. I'd remembered that dz placed my watch inside my bag while I was smearing the insect repellent. After the final search, I've found it. It has dropped into the secret compartment of my bag. Darn! Didn't know the bag got that compartment. Luckily I didn't lost it in Ubin, if not my sis will kill me for sure! Ate nasi lemak at the changi village hawker centre. Cheap and nice. We were dead beat so went home straight after dinner.
